Text Box: Welcome to the last issue in the “Spring Cleaning” series: Spring Cleaning for the Spirit. 
When speaking of the spirit, I am referring to the vital principle or animating force within living beings: that divine spark, or vital life force within us, our vitality, our soul—the essence of who we are. In Latin, spiritus, means “breath”, but also refers to soul, courage and vigor.
I believe part of the stress we feel in our lives comes from a burdened spirit. Periodically “cleaning” our spirit by letting go of the past and letting go of guilt is essential to our well being. Freeing our spirit also enables us to create more joy and fulfillment in our lives.

Text Box: I spoke to a group of women recently and asked them if they spent most of their time living in the past, the present or the future. They were all certain they stayed in the present. Then I asked them to count how many times that day they’d had thoughts about something either in the past or in the future. They were still fairly adamant that they were living in the present until I asked them to list what those thoughts were about.
They discovered that their thoughts had primarily been those of worry, uneasiness or anxiety, or of guilt, anger or regret.
Turning thoughts about the past or present over and over in your mind robs you of the present moment. The present—the “now” moment—is where life happens. This is where you could be feeling joy, happiness and a sense of fulfillment.
Try this exercises. Write down your top three worries or concerns right not. Then ask yourself, is there anything I can you do about any of these right now, at this moment? If something comes to mind that you can do, stop everything and go do it! If not, then let it go. If this worry/concern pops back into you mind later on today, ask again, ”Is there anything I can do about this right now?” If yes, go do it. If no, let it go again.
Repeating this process with every worry or concern that comes to mind will help you stay in the present. It will also train your mind to let go of the past and free your spirit to enjoy the present “now” moment where life happens!
